Gateway Harley-Davidson Spring Update - Verge America
Verge Sport is proud to be the clothing partner for the St. Louis based 2016 Gateway Harley-Davidson U25 development cycling team, an amazing group that through a true team effort has turned heads with early season podium placings and a first place finish for team member Sepp Kuss at the Redlands Bicycle Classic.
The team first coalesced in February at the Valley of the Sun stage race followed with a team camp in Tucson. George Simpson took 7th place in the time trial, 3rd in the road race and 2nd in the criterium, with solid team efforts controlling the field. The Tucson team camp proved a precursor to later climbing success at Redlands, with Kuss setting new KOM's on Mount Lemmon, overtaking times from the likes of Tom Danielson and raising his own bar another notch.
In April the team welcomed Columbian born racers Bryan Gomez and Dennis Ramirez to the States at the San Dimas Stage Race. Sepp took the 5th place spot in the opening hill climb time trial, and the team held onto it until the finish, with Gomez snagging the Green Jersey in the process.
After his win at the Redlands Bicycle Classic, CyclingTips called Kuss the “revelation” of the event. The breakout performance only happened after a second-chance entry into the event after another team wasn't able to make it, and with significant efforts from the team to shield Kuss until it was his time to shine and pull in the biggest win of his career in Oak Glen Village. Gomez again claimed a Green Jersey with his speed and tenacity. Next up is The Joe Martin Stage Race in Arkansas, followed by the Tour of the Gila.
Gateway Harley-Davison is excited for the opportunity to help the eight members of the team develop as racers and as young men alike, and thanks it's many sponsors for the support.
