April News Round Up:

April was the first time this year the athletes of the Happy Tooth Dental Professional Cycling Team came together and raced as a full squad. We kicked off the season at the Redlands Bicycle Classic then traveled to Greenville, SC for the USAC Criterium National Championships. Riders and staff then transferred to Chapel Hill, NC for a week long training camp with our title sponsor; Dr. Larry Moray of The Happy Tooth Dental and his family. We wrapped up April sending 2 squads to simultaneously race both the USA Crits Speed Week series and the Tour of the Gila stage race in Silver, City New Mexico.

At Criterium National Championships, we raced well as a team, only missing a late and dangerous break. Tina Pic finished 5th and Christina Gokey-Smith finished 6th.
We sent a strong squad to the USA Crits Speed Week series, which consists of six one day races over eight days throughout the South Eastern U.S. Tina Pic took the overall series win, and a win at the Michelin Test Track Criterium. Christina won at the Walterboro Criterium out of a breakaway and finished third overall for the Speed Week series. Laura Jorgensen rode strong all week and finished 8th overall for the series. This was a great week of racing by the entire team and it shows with these results.

Jen Luebke signing in before stage 4 at the Tour of the Gila.
One of the important parts of The Happy Tooth Pro Cycling team is our development program. We create opportunities for neo-pro and junior cyclists to perform at the professional level alongside our pro riders. We sent a squad, including our development riders and USA Cycling Paralympic athletes to the Tour of the Gila. We handed our rockstar guest Director Mike Creed the lead of the team and with the help of his assistant, (his bulldog) Charlie he guided the team to success in New Mexico.

The Tour of the Gila is one of the hardest stage races in North America with long climbs, high winds, and the entire race is at challenging elevation. The team rode very well and helped one of our developmental rider success stories, Jennifer Luebke, avoid the daily crashes and ride into a top result in the overall GC.

We won the Team Overall victory at USA Crits Speed Week.

Next up on our schedule is the USA Cycling Road and Time Trial National Championships in Winston-Salem, NC on May 27th and 28th. In addition to the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic on May 29th and 30th. The Winston Salem Cycling Classic consists of a USA Cycling Pro Road Tour Criterium on Sunday and a UCI Road Race on Monday.

After the Road National Championships and the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic, we have a short break before heading to Tulsa Tough, a 3 race weekend in the beautiful city of Tulsa, OK. This is one of our favorite races of the year because of the great hospitality in Tulsa, and the amazing fans who come out to cheer us on.

We are on a roll already and there are more races to win! Follow us!
